NEW YORK CITY
Abused
- Loud And Clear 7" Abused AM-1, 1983 PS
(Loud And Clear / War Games / Just Another Fool / No End In Sight //
Nuclear Threat / Watch Out / Blow Your Brains Out / Drug Free Youth)
Great hardcore. Aggressive and powerful with distinctive songs.
Near the top of its class.[GMcN]
Active Ingredients
- Laundramat Loverboy / Identity Loss 7" Active FRS-018, 1979 PS
- Hyper Exaggeration / Bird On Fire 7" Active FRS-019, 1980 PS
They are very similar in sound: fast-paced, keyboard-driven "new wave". They
are both decent for what they are. The first has one fairly driving song.
The second is quirkier/wavier.[BD]
Agnostic Front
- United Blood 7" Agnostic Front AF001, 1983 PS
(No One Rules / Final War / Last Warning / Traitor / Friend Or Foe //
United Blood / Fight / Discriminate Me / In Control / Crucial Changes)
A tentative, badly-done skinhead hardcore EP from an important band.
Includes insert. Reissue on red vinyl.[GMcN]
Antidote
- Thou Shalt Not Kill 7" Antidote ARI1, 1983 PS
(Life As One / Nazi Youth / Real Deal / Foreign Job Lot // Zero
Mentality / Got Me On The Line / Die At War / Something Must Be Done)
Solid, tight hardcore.[GMcN]
Armed Citizens Long Island City
- Make Sense 7" Big City BCR2, 1983 PS
(Make Sense / Toxic Waste / On My Own / We Want Money // Power / Not Afraid /
The Thrill Of It All / Unconscious)
OK hardcore in the '81-'82 mode, with romping tempos. Leans toward
the generic.[GMcN]
Art
- The Only Record In The World 7" Art EP001, 1980 PS
(Ugly People With Fancy Hairdos // 1: Give Me Nuclear Power / I Don't Want To
Hold Your Hand I Just Want To Beat You Up // 2: Art Great Art / San Francisco /
You Can't Get Happy / Nothing) 2 channels on B-side
Snide anti-New-Wave New Wave, featuring Mykel Board.[GMcN]
Artless
- I Am A Rock / How Much Punk Rock Do You Hear In Russia / We Want
Nuclear War 7" Art, 1983 PS
Snide anti-punk punk, featuring Mykel Board.[GMcN]
Art/Artless/GG Allin
split 7" DE Schrott 009, 1983
(Art: One Born Every Minute / The Last Punks Song (Hookfarm) / Artless:
We Want Nuclear War / How Much Punk Rock Do You Hear In Russia? //
B-side by GG Allin)
More snide, etc.[GMcN]
Arthur's Dilemma
- It's Dirty / Kristmas Karol 7" Cuntagious CR-112278, 1978 NS
- Up To You / Kicks 7" Cuntagious CR92878, 1979 NS
Beastie Boys
- Pollywog Stew 7" Ratcage MOTR21, 1982 PS
(Beastie Boys / Transit Cop / Jimi / Holy Snappers // Riot Fight /
Ode To... / Michelle's Farm / Egg Raid On Mojo)
Quirky NY hardcore in the fervent '81-'82 style.[GMcN]
John Berenzy's 20/20 (John Berenzy Group)
- Radio Lies / Vice Verses 7" 3rd Rail TR-20/20, 1978 PS
- Vice Verses / Chain Reaction 7" 007, 1999/1978 PS
Vice Verses is an artpunk classic, but the A-side isn't too hot. Most copies
of the original single have a John Berenzy Group sticker on the picture sleeve
to hide the band's original name, presumably due to legal threats from the
other 20/20. Earliest copies have an A-side matrix ending in just "A". It was
issued again in 1979 (based on dates on test pressings) with matrix ending
"A-3". The B-side, which is the only track of interest to punk collectors,
remained unchanged. The reissue offers a remixed version of Vice Verses with a
different B-side.[JF]
Black Virgin
- .44 Killer / Feel The Steel 7" Black Virgin, 1983 PS
Blessed
- Deep Frenzy / American Bandstand 7" Daven JC1022, 1979 PS
Boyfriends
- I Don't Want Nobody (I Want You) / You're The One 7" Bomp 117, 1978 PS
DE Line 1145, 1985 PS
- Wrapped Up In A Dream / It's The Same Old Song 7" Signal BR01, 1981 PS
First is a very good punky powerpop 2-sider, with some 1950s rock-n-roll
influences on I Don't Want Nobody which work well. They'd gone limp by the
second record, with the Four Tops cover on the flip being particularly
unnecessary.[JF]
Brats
- Keep On Doin' What You're Doing / If You Can Rock (You Can Roll) 7"
Brats 45-100, 1976 NS
- Keep Doin' (What You're Doin') / If You Can't Rock (You Can Roll) 7"
Whiplash 45-100, 1976 HS
- Be A Man / Qualude Queen 7" Whiplash 101, 1977 PS
Original demo copies were sleeveless and a notoriously noisy pressing. For
the stock pressings, which have Whiplash labels, you get subtly changed song
titles, a much cleaner and louder press, and a picture sleeve, at least on
some copies. The music is lumpen Bowery rock.[HW]
Buddy Love
- Sheila / Party Girl 7" Buddy Love BL-1, 1980 PS
- LP
Cause For Alarm
- Cause For Alarm 7" CFA 001, 1983 PS
(Parasite / Second Chance / Time To Try / United Races // In Search Of /
Poison In The Machine / True Colors / Stand As One)
Sharp, clean, rhythmic hardcore with great songs. Possibly the best
NY hardcore EP of the time.[GMcN]
Cells
- Uh Oh / Terminal Thighs 7" Rude RR001, 1979 PS
- Chemical Reaction / United States 7" Rude RR002, 1982 NS
Colorado transplants.
Chain Gang
- Son Of Sam / Gary Gilmore And The Island Of Dr. Moreau 7"
Kapitalist RM-6122, 1977 PS
UK Kapitalist RM-6122, 1977 NS
- My Fly / Cannibal Him 7" Kapitalist RL-1946, 1978 PS
- Deuce Pack 2x7" 1979 PS
(Wrestler / O.T.B. 7" Chain Gang WA-1000/OTB-2000)
(Prostitute / Brazil)
The first is a two-sided classic of non-standard but punk aligned
rock`n'roll. The sleeveless copies of Son Of Sam with raised ridges
around the edge of the labels and slightly different label design
were almost certainly pressed in the UK. My Fly is similar but less
manic. Third and fourth issued together with a sleeve. The music on
these move to a sloppy, repetitive mode that is probably for fans only.[HW]
Cheese
- She Said / Kids Don't Mind 7" B-B-Baby S91152, 1979 PS
Chemicals Made from Dirt Long Island
- Oriental Television / Bachelor Party // Beatniks Looking For Tourists /
Uh Oh 7" Biro Mino 115, 1981 PS
One great DIY/punk track in Beatniks.[CW]
Colors
- Rave It Up 7" Infinite #27, 1980 PS
(Jealousy / Growin' Up American // West End / Have You Seen Her / Rave
It Up)
- Colors LP Dirt DR-002, 1982
(Promise / Tomorrow / Where Does The Love Go / When Worlds Collide /
Go Go Getter // All I Want / Summertime / Popstar / Symphony For A
Summer's Day / Ethical Equations)
Powerpop. Also a rare B&W two piece insert sleeve for the single.[HW]
Also a rare stamped sleeve for promos of the single that were given out
before the picture sleeves were ready.[JF]
Connie -N- The Linguistiks Bedford Hills (Westchester)
- Russian Roulette / Nu Way 7" DWI CNL-001, 1982 PS
There's one good song, but unfortunately there's a "rap" break right
in the middle of the song.[GB]
Corpse Grinders
- Rites, 4 Whites / Mental Moron 7" Whiplash 45-102, 1978 PS
- Legend Of The Corpse Grinders LP FR Fan Club 004, 1983
(Rites, 4 Whites / Mental Moron / Pretty Baby / Nothing Left To Lose /
Knife's Edge // Take What I Can / Bulldog / Runaway / Frozen Alive /
City Rocker / Diamond Head)
Corpsicles
- Now You're Gonna Leave Me / Big Doings 7" Arrow 123715, 1982 PS
- RU12 LP ARO SPCK 1, 1984
(Blood / Don't Judge Me / Scene / You're Gonna Leave Me / I'm Not
Ashamed / Corpsicles / Talk To Me / Sex With You / Games People
Play / What You Do / Confusion)
7" is tuneful punk with a retardo slant. Solid with clear production. The
B-side had lots of radio play.[GMcN]
Cracked Actor Long Island
- Nazi School / Judy In Disguise 7" Death KILL004, 1981 PS
JP 1977 S053, 2008 PS
Great punk. Sharp, tight, and well-produced, with army-style chanting
on the pre-choruses. Cool. A so-so cover inhabits the B-side.[GMcN]
Criminals
- The Kids Are Back / The Cops Are Coming 7" Sing Sing S1001, 1978 PS
Crucial T
- Darkened Days 7" Ratcage CT-001, 1982 PS
(Darkened Days / Agent Orange // Male Domination / In The Night)
Transplanted Floridians. Strong and proficient hardcore with an
incongruous (but good) dark, moody rock song on the A-side.[GMcN]
Avis Davis
- No. 1 LP DE Innovative Communication KS 80015, 1981
(I Found A Girl / Have You Seen Her / Hot Wire My Heart / M.I.A. /
Gone Too Long / Bubsy // Weekend / Sick / Don't Pin Nothin' On Me /
Give It Up / Energy Drain / Road Musik)
- Weekend / I Found A Girl 7" AUS I.C. KSS-988, 1983 NS
Two years after backing the Joy Ryder single (see below) it appears
Avis Davis was living in Berlin where he released a couple of records.
This, the first of them, is all over the place musically, but if there
had been a Weekend / M.I.A single, it would be as good, if not better
than the Ryder 45. Think Johnny Thunders-type punk'n'roll.[JF]
Some time after writing the above I found out that Weekend was actually
released as a single in Australia, but no M.I.A. as the flip.[JF]
Dead Virgins New Hyde Park (Long Island)
- Four 7" Rat Woman RAT001, 1983 PS
(Rape Capitol Hill / No Cause For Concern // WW3 / Emotional Strain)
Delphobics
- Darkest Hour / Distractions 7" Fake Doom, 1980 PS
- Emotional Cripple / Me Them & It 7" Fake Doom FDR002, 1980 PS
Emotional Cripple is decent speedwave.[HW]

Dispositions
- The Game / Broken Heart 7" Trebb TRB-002, 1983 PS
Melodic punk. The bassist went on to form the band True Rumor with members
of label mates Victims Of Society. Musically this reminds me of a poppier
version of Kraut.[MT]
Dissidents Rockville Centre (Long Island)
- Kool-Aid & Cyanide / To Be Inside You 7" Maximum 1, 1981 PS
The band name, label name, and subject matter may seem punk, but it
doesn't sound that way. Two-man band with piano on one side.[JF]
Dots
- I Don't Wanna Dance (With You) / Immortals 7" Dots SCR30737, 1979 PS
Ducky Boys Brooklyn
- Mercenary 7" Spoiler 5-4JN-3111, 1982 PS

Ed Gein's Car
- BrainDead Baby // Too Old To Die Young / Wait Til Your Father Gets Home 7"
Ed Gein's Car EGC3355, 1984 PS
One of the best from '84, Too Old... is a great punker.[HW]
Even Worse
- Mouse Or Rat? / 1984 7" Worse Than You WORST0001, 1982 PS
- Leaving / One Night Stand 7" Autonomy 002, 1988/83 PS
First is good, quirky punk on the verge of hardcore, female vocals.[GMcN]
False Prophets
- Blind Obedience // Overkill / Royal Slime 7" Worn Out Bros WOB001, 1981 SS
- Good Clean Fun! / Functional 7" Worn Out Bros WOB002, 1982 PS
The first is somewhat undistinguished punk with hardcore tendencies,
from a strong live band which sounded thin on record. Second has a
classic punky hardcore song on the A-side - not as raucous as it
should've been.[GMcN]
Features
- Floozie Of The Neighborhood / I Wanna Be Your Man 7" Paradox PX5820,
1979 PS
Four/Four
- All Wound Up / Systematic 7" 4/4 Songs, 1980 PS
Both sides are good Clash-influenced poppy punk with keyboards.[JF]
4 Skins
- I'm Mad / When I'm Gone 7" Groove GR001, 1981 PS
- White Neighborhood 12" Beatnote BN002/3, 1981
(White Neighborhood / She Thinks That She's Fine // (I Said) Ugh! /
Strings To Your Heart / I Am Drawn)
Hand Grenades
- Demo To London / Coma Dos 7" HG 1001, 1979 PS
One of the few US punk records that sounds like a (good) UK DIY record.[JF]
Gina Harlow And the Cutthroats
- XXX Live on Stage XXX LP Cutthroat CT77770, 1979
(I'm Hot And Wild / Punks / Teri, Teri, Teri / Ripped T Shirt // Mama
Is A Bag Lady / Jim Jones / Running Out Of Love / Begging For A Job)
Low-fi garage punk with female porn star singer.[MB]
It's time to set the record straight: Gina Harlow was not a porn actress, but
a muscian, bass player, singer, composer, and a dancer. I did appear as a
dancer - being interviewed for a porn flick, in the movie Skin Flicks. Sorry
guys, but I wasn't even nude, much less performing any sex acts.[Gina Harlow]
Heartattack
- God Is Dead // You / Shotgun 7" Damaged Goods DGR001, 1981 PS
- Keep Your Distance 12" Happy Clown HA-001, 1983
- Subliminal Seduction 12" Ratcage MOTR27, 1984
(Man's World (The Oldest Prejudice) / Wheels Over Indian Trails // Toxic Lullabye /
Self Control)
Great hardcore from Queens. Youthfully frenetic on the first 7"; grew
more powerful and gained a choppy, rhythmic, experimental feel on the
Keep Your Distance 12" - an unheralded classic, something like the
aesthetic of the early Gang of Four grafted onto a suburban thrash band.
Really amazing, there's nothing else like it.[GMcN]

Meat Market / Vegetarian At A Barbeque / Shitlist / Drunk Driving / Proud To Be Guilty
/ Moon The Moonies / Put On Your Warpaint)
The first 7" is bar-band pseudopunk. A parody of Steve Martin's King
Tut occupies the B-side. The second 7" is wild and medium-fast, with
Ism's emerging style of goofy keyboard solos over heavy guitars.
Partridge Family cover on the A-side; homage to a New York hardcore
Mecca (circa '82) on the B-side. Good. The LP is a move into straight
hardcore with distinctive songs and keyboard solos.[GMcN]

- Palisades Park / Loser 7" Beatbad FOUND1, 1981 NS
- Twist And Shout / Boys 7" Beat This BT1001, 1991/1981 PS
Loser is good snotty punk similar to the Typically Tasteless material. [BD]
I prefer the Palisades Park cover to Loser. The Twist And Shout single is
live at Max's with Johnny Thunders guesting, and is marginal at best.[JF]
Lords
- Thinkin' Bout A Girl / I Love New York 7" Lords TL-3500, 1979 PS
Catchy garagepop a-side w/ killer guitars, excellent psych-punk b-side.[CR]

Art-damaged punk - loud, raucous, and tight.[GMcN]
Major Conflict
- How Do Ya Feel / Outgroup / Not Just A Song 7" Silent Scream, 1983 PS
Good hardcore. A bit run-of-the mill except for Not Just A Song -
a thrasher with a moody, theatrical intro.[GMcN]

Bag Of Hammers 008 / U-34009, 1992 PS
I don't think I can name a better two-part punk song than Stitches In
My Head / I Wanna Kill Somebody. Flip is credited to Larry Teich With
The Alan Milman Sect.[JF]
Misguided Queens
- Bringing It Down 7" Reality MIS1369, 1982 PS
(You Bore Me / State Of War // C.C.T.V.)
- Options 7" Reality MIS6913, 1983 PS
(Defy Standards / Blacklist // They Take Your Money / Individual)
Political hardcore from the 'burbs. OK songs, rough sound, inept
drumming.[GMcN]
Mob Douglaston (Queens)
- Upset The System 7" Mob Style MSR1, 1982 PS
(Crucial Point / We Can / N.Y. Slam / Dr Butcher / Pinstripe Suit //
Label It / 101 / Common Criminal / Fight For Right)
- Step Forward 7" Mob Style MSR3, 1982 PS
(Step Forward // Revolution / Unity Lives On)
First 7" is tight hardcore from a talented band. Not much songwriting,
but good stuff. Second has a great, complex midtempo song on the
A-side. A ripping live band that usually sounded small in the
studio.[GMcN]
Moral Majority Dance Band
- Little Bit // Kill Me / Baby 7" Deadfish BONE1, 1983 PS
Bad pseudo-punk.[GMcN] Little Bit is a goodie.[HW]
Mystery Girls Elmhurst (Queens)
- These Boots Are Made For Walkin' / Ego 7" Casino CA-003, 1983 PS
The A-side cover, "Boots", pales in comparison to the flip. "Ego"
is excellent late-70s-sounding punk with nice leads, sounding not
unlike early Red Cross.[DR]
There are at least two later records, both with different lineups,
lead singer Debbie Valenti being the only constant. I have not
heard the Missing In Action 12" from 1984, but 1987's The Axe Is
Gonna Swing / No Emotion 7" is a metal record.[JF]
Nasty Facts
- Drive My Car // Gotta Get To You / Crazy 'bout You 7"

UK 5th Column FC2, PS
The UK version was pressed in France. The band seems to
prefer to write their name as Nastyfacts.[JF]

Necessaries
- You Can Borrow My Car / Runaway Child (Minors Beware) 7" Spy 002, 1979 PS
My favorite powerpop single. There was a later album, released in two
different versions with different titles, that sounds totally different
and should be avoided if you're looking for powerpop/punk.[JF}
Neck Tie Party Long Island
- Stranger Still // Little Darlin' / Squash (Splat) (Yuch) (Oh My!!!!) 7"
Little Borris GETTA-1, 1981 PS
Strange mix of punk (almost hardcore) and weirdness, pretty cool.[BD]
Nekron 99
- Commercial Success 7" Nekron 99 667, 1981 PS
(Let Me Go / Astro Fighter // You Really Don't Wanna Know / Secrets)
Neon Boys
- That's All I Know (Right Now) / Love Comes In Spurts // Richard Hell
And The Voidoids - Don't Die / Time 7" Shake SHK101-EP, 1980 PS
A-side features 60s punk in the Pebbles vein, recorded in maybe
1973 by Tom Verlaine, Richard Hell, and Billy Ficca. B-side features a
great Richard Hell demo that's more complex and catchy than anything on
the first album.[GMcN]

Welfare For The Rich / Badge Of Shame / Pal O'mine / The Truth /
My Life / Black Sheep / After Death / Life's Process)
7" is raw, violently depressive midtempo hardcore from a band of
misanthropes. Much smarter (and more humane) than it wants to
seem. Singular. LP is polished, violently depressive midtempo
hardcore from a band of misanthropes. Grabs you by the neck and
shakes. Very clear sound. Closer to standard hardcore than the EP,
but still in a class by itself.[GMcN]

Yourself 7" Clear Cloud 908041, 1979 PS
White band backing a black singer, like the Cult Heroes and Snuky Tate. The
B-side tracks, especially the last one, are reminiscent of both those groups,
mostly as heard in the vocals. The A-side is terrible disco rock.[JF]
N.Y. Niggers
- Just Like Dresden '45 / Headliner 7" NYN 100, 1979 NS (maybe a RS and a RSS too)
An all-black three-piece doing tough streetpunk. Great single.[GMcN]
A poster exists for a 1/6/79 show, and it's definitely the same band
seeing that the location of the show is the same as the address
printed on the labels of the single. According to the picture on the
poster, they were a 5-piece and only one of them was black.[JF]

Do The Slam 7" Technicorp International TCI-100, 1983 PS
Side B features a great punk rave-up, Do The Slam, and a good new
wave/punk track Do Ya Like It. The A-Side is a ridiculous cover of
the 60s pop classic.[MG]

and two live shows, decent.[HW]
Reactors // Derislandz
- I Want Sex / I'm A Reactor // They're Not Needed / You

Whiplash 45-105, 1980 NS
- Slugs 2x7" Whiplash, 1981 PS (both above 7"s in a sleeve)
Ray Jalbert, the Slugs' singer, was also a talented artist. Ray drew
artwork for 2 different sleeves for both Slugs 45s. They were printed
but the band never picked them up from the printer so he threw them
away. The records originally came out without picture sleeves.
Some years later, I borrowed the original artwork (which is owned by
Rick Rivets) and had them reproduced as a double sided sleeve,
then packaged the original 45s in this new pic sleeve.[A.C. Doback]

- M.A.C.H.I.N.E. // I Got A Right / Cradle Robber 7" ROIR S123, 1982 PS
New-Wave speedrock - loud and ripping with great songs and hooks.
Features a 13-year-old Harley Flanagan, later of the Cro-Mags. The
second is a promo single from the R.O.I.R. cassette; recorded live.[GMcN]
Stisism Queens
- Introducing 7" Mutha 017, 1984
(Dancing With Bacteria / Male Bovine Excretion / Cambodian Puzzle //

Retardo Pistols-punk. Tight and catchy.[GMcN]
Street Kidz
- Go To School / Easy Way Out // In The I.R.A. 7" C.K. 1054, 1981 NS
Punk but not very good.[BD]
Overly dramatic punk with awkward lyrics and metalish guitar solos.
A real train wreck, but I'd take it over Stevie Skateboard.[JF]

/ Full Circle / Sick On Yesterday / Good Stuff // She's Not Changed / Nice
To Your Dog / Greedy Fuckers / Crazy Lazy Jane / Lust Or Love / Tracy
McPrichtease / I'm Allowed / Ex)
In recorded order we have: good rudimentary punk rock on the 10";
a classic American punk rock and roll LP from a band that at their
peak could give the Real Kids and even the Ramones a run for their
money in the supercharged Rock and Roll stakes - well worth getting;
and the 7" which is decent lowkey powerpop, but ultimately nothing
special.[HW]
That Hideous Strength Gravesend, Brooklyn
- A Night At The Space Opera // They Call Me Energy / More Powerful Than
A Steaming Locomotive 7" Aware 45-000, 1977 PS
- Vintage English Rock`n'Roll / Murder In My Heart For The Judge 7"
Time Warped 101, 1982
The B-side tracks of the first single are punky, but inconsistant and odd
(perhaps a good thing depending on your point-of-view). I haven't heard the
second single.[JF]
Tot Rocket & The Twins
- Reduced / Fun Fades Fast In The USA 7" Whiplash 010, 1980 PS

Mark Truthe And The Liars Roslyn Heights (Long Island)
- Prisoners Of Time / Mr. Rock'n Roll God 7" Hopkins 10-4-2079, 1981 PS
The A-side, after a soft intro, is totally in-the-red with unintelligible
lyrics -- pretty good. The flip starts like a ballad, then kicks in louder,
but remains more down-tempo. Stick with the first side, but it's not
really Punk rock with a capital-P. It's more in the Heartbreakers mold,
which is fine by me.[JF]
TV Sex Star
- TV Sex Star LP Agent Products AP-1, 1981
(Visa / Holes / Cash Crisis // TV Sex Star / No Name / Low Blood Sugar)
B-side recorded live at CBGB, with the first couple tracks being ok synth
punk. No Name is the better of the two. According to the song writing
credits, some of it may have been recorded as early as 1978.[JF]
2 Timers
- Now That I've Lost My Baby / Fast And Furious 7" Virgin VS216, 1978 PS
- Living For The Weekend / The Good Die Young 7" 2 Timer, 1979 PS

Post Mortem 1001, 1982 PS
(Life Of Our Own / My Kinda Town // When The Evening Comes / I Want You Dead)
- Verbal Abuse / Misfit 7" Post Mortem 1002, 1983
First is good midtempo punk in the '79 mold from ex-Misfit Bobby Steele.
Equal parts Heartbreakers and UK Subs. Second is simple but memorable
midtempo punk. Good production.[GMcN]
Urban Waste
- Police Brutality / Ignorant +4 7" Mob Style 2, 1982 PS
Good boilerplate hardcore.[GMcN]
Victims
- Help Me Baby / You Got The Magic // Destination Undecided / Don't Come

(Gotta Find A Substitute / Real Wild Child / Lost And Found /
Buy Your Love / Nothin' Of My Own / Head // Victims Theme /
What I Want / Too Late? / Nobody But You / Dance With You /
She's So Hot / Annette)
The Plan 9 7" is tuneful, hooky gutterpunk.[GMcN]
Victims Of Society
- (Look So Easy) When You're Young // Another Point Of View / Act Becomes Real 7"
Trebb TRB-004, 1983 PS
Melodic punk.[BD]
Visitors Brooklyn
- Rocket Me Home / Coming From Behind 7" Faulty X MK-8800, 1979 NS
Not punk, kinda new wave/barband stuff with annoying vocals.[BD]
A-side is glammy hardrock which has grown on me over time. The flip more fits BD's
description above.[JF]
Yorks
- Figure And A Face / Sleep 7" Little Hero, 1980
Great powerpop a-side that sounds like the Records, b-side not so hot.[CR]
Young & The Useless
- Real Men Don't Floss 7" Ratcage MOTR24, 1982 PS
(Young And Useless / P.M.H. / The Wave / Home Boy // Rise And Shine / Funky Music)
Sloppy but fun hardcore by a band of very young teenagers.[GMcN]
Various

Headlickers - 1, 2, 3, 4 / Ism - Nixon Now More Than Ever / Squirm - Go Die /
Butch Lust And The Hypocrites - Degenerate World)
A good, but quirky hardcore compilation which draws heavily from a
set of somewhat obscure Queens and Long Island bands (Squirm,
Headlickers, Butch Lust and the Hypocrites).[GMcN]
Various
- Big City Ain't Too Pretty 7" Big City BCR1, 1983 PS

Work / Savage Circle - We Don’t Have To // No Thanks - Are You Ready /
Armed Citizens - Thrill Of It All / Fathead Suburbia - The Masses /
Savage Circle - Kill Corps)
A solid and well-meaning, but ultimately undistinguished hardcore
compilation. Bandwise, it draws heavily from the northern suburbs, and
from second-string NYC bands.[GMcN]
Various
- Big City Don't Want No Pity 7" Big City BCR5, 1984 PS
(Ultra Violence - No One Rules / Armed Citizens - Make Sense // The Unjust
- In Shape / No Control - Suicide)
Typical Big City hardcore comp with the exception of No Control who are really
good f-vox punk, sounding remarkably like the Tyrades, but 20 years earlier.[JF]
Various
- Sons Of The Dolls LP FR Fan Club 002, 1982
(Idols - Girl That I Love / You / Criminals - The Kids Are Back / The Cops Are

Compiles the singles, which are all listed separately above, by these four New
York Dolls-related bands.[JF]

I used to do a few comicbook series called SAVAGE HENRY and THOSE ANNOYING POST

started self-publishing 7-inch picture sleeves of nonexistent releases by this
band. James [Antonucci, who ran Death Records] gave me the code number so that
"The Bulldaggers: The Vinyl Solution" came out on Death Records. A cardboard
disk was included, but there was no music on it.[Matt Howarth]
